Lapland Expedition!

Dog-sled safari in northwest Lapland from Muonio to Kilpisjärvi – 9 days

During our special dog-sled safari in the spring time you will experience not only the cooperation with lovely, eager huskies, but also the long days of the spring. You will spend 9 days in the beautiful fell scenery and you will drive your own team of 6 dogs. The daily distances will be from 30 to 70 km.

Day 1

Arrival at Kittilä airport, transfer to Muonio – Harriniva Holiday Centre. Get together with your team and the guide. Accommodation in cosy hotel rooms or in cabins near Harriniva.

Day 2 

After breakfast we will provide you with the safari equipment and present you the Arctic Sled-Dog Centre. Together we will pack the sleds and practise how to drive a dog team. Start of the safari.

Day 2-10 

The safari will take you from Muonio to Kilpisjärvi, to the last village at the end of the „Finnish arm“. The daily distances will vary from 30 to 70 km depending on weather conditions and the skills of the participants; pauses will be made according to wishes. During this safari we spend the nights in small wilderness huts and in tents. On some evenings we will return to the same hut or tent, because there are so many beautiful spots to visit along the route. The days are long and mostly warm, even the nights will be light and it will be possible to drive a night safari also. We  will drive in the forest, over the frozen lakes and along the rivers; we will take you also up to the   bare fell region. All meals will be prepared together, lunch by open fire in the wilderness,   breakfast and dinner in wilderness huts and in tents. Each participant will also take care of his/her own dog team. In the evening of the 10th day we will arrive in Kilpisjärvi and spend one night there in cabins.

Day 11  

We all return to Harriniva Holiday Centre by car or by coach. In the evening farewell dinner. Accommodation in cosy hotel rooms or in cabins near Harriniva.

Day 12  

Breakfast and transfer to Kittilä airport.
